Craig Cannonier was a founder of the Bermuda Democratic Alliance, and then one of the founders of the One Bermuda Alliance, becoming the One Bermuda Alliance’s first leader. From 2012 – 2014 he was Premier of Bermuda. Born and raised in St. David’s and educated at St. George’s Preparatory School and the Bermuda Institute, he continued his education overseas as Towson State University, obtaining a degree in industrial psychology.
He is an experienced business manager and owner and together with wife Antoinette has spent his working life in a variety of retail businesses, most recently as an operator of Warwick Esso Tiger Market. His background in business and involvement in the community led him to politics where he has worked to create better jobs for Bermudians and to enable black Bermudians to benefit from the island’s economic growth. He fervently believes that Bermuda has an opportunity to do and be better, but that this can only happen if everyone works together and does not allow themselves to be divided.
He is the current Shadow Minister for Public Works and for Tourism, and Party Whip.
