Michael Branco was born and raised in Bermuda. Michael attended school at Saltus until traveling abroad for university. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the University of Western Ontario, pursued graduate diploma studies in Computer Science at Stanford University and earned his MBA from Richard Ivey Business School.

After university, Michael returned to Bermuda where he initially worked for Butterfield Bank in Electronic Security and then he moved to Ernst & Young as a consultant. However, he then embarked on his path into technology start-up companies and most notably founded Fireminds Ltd. He is now the Senior Vice President of Ignition, a technology solutions company.

In his spare time Michael is an avid martial artist, golfer, reggae DJ and world back packer with his girlfriend. Michael also volunteers with the Ross Blackie Talbot Charity and the Ewan Sampson Scholarship Trust, plus serving on the Ecommerce Advisory Board. He previously served as Vice Chairman for the Business Technology Division of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce.

He says, “Ultimately, I am looking for a cooperative Government for Bermuda that serves its people. I want to see the divisive nature of Bermuda politics disappear. Our generation must take responsibility for the future of Bermuda, using the lessons learned from our families and the education they afforded us. There is no black, there is no white, there are only people who have equal access to quality education and opportunity.” With strong leadership abilities, focused energy, a talent to bridge people of diverse backgrounds and a practical outlook, Michael is proud to be part of the OBA.
